About This Tool
Image Rotate & Flip Tool — Correct Orientation Instantly
Photos taken with a tilted camera, scanned documents that came out sideways, or design elements that need mirroring — our Image Rotate & Flip tool handles all these orientation adjustments quickly and precisely.
Rotation Options
- 90° clockwise / counterclockwise: Standard rotation for fixing portrait/landscape orientation.
- 180°: Flip upside-down images back to their correct orientation.
- Custom angle: Enter any angle from -359° to 359° for precise artistic rotation effects.
- Auto-straighten: Automatically detect and correct slight tilts in scanned documents (deskewing).
Flip Options
- Horizontal flip (mirror): Create a mirrored version of the image along the vertical axis. Useful for creating symmetrical compositions, fixing selfie orientation, or mirror-image design effects.
- Vertical flip: Flip the image upside down along the horizontal axis. Used in artistic compositions and special effects.
Background Fill
When rotating by a custom non-90° angle, the corners of the image may not be filled. Choose from:
- Transparent fill (PNG output): Leaves rotated corners transparent.
- White or black fill: Fills empty corners with a solid color.
- Extend fill: Mirrors edge pixels to fill rotated corners naturally.
Use Cases
Photography correction: Digital cameras embed orientation metadata (EXIF), but some viewers ignore it. Rotating and saving the image fixes orientation for all viewers.
Scanning: Documents scanned on a flatbed scanner often come out rotated. Fix them instantly before sharing.
Graphic design: Mirror images to create symmetrical compositions, watermark placements, or reflection effects.
Social media: Many phone cameras produce landscape images that need rotation before posting as portrait stories.
